DA Moves AGM and Events to Calgary
Mar012012
Due to issues finding a venue large enough to host the AGM Shoot in Edmonton, Darts Alberta had to make the decision to move the AGM, AGM Shoot and the Member League Doubles Championship to Calgary.
With both the Adult and Youth events now hosted at the AGM Shoot, it is becoming more of a challenge each year to find a venue large enough.
A minimum of 30+ boards is required. Hosting the adult and youth in two different smaller venues was even considered, without success.
We faced a similar dilemma in Calgary, when the Ogden Legion closed their doors at the end of 2011; and we were uncertain if we could find a venue larger enough to host the 2012 Adult Provincial Championships. Luckily, we were able to secure a new venue in Calgary. Unfortunately, we were unable to do the same for the AGM Shoot in Edmonton.
The AGM Shoot was originally designed to encourage members to attend the AGM in order to make decisions about their organization. However, with greater participation each year, finding large enough venues has become more challenging.
Cancelling the AGM Shoot would likely jeopardize the potential of achieving the quorum needed to have the AGM. Ths is quite a delimma that the Board of Directors is doing their best to address, but we encourage any suggestions that members might have to solve our issues for future years.
