CALLING ALL COACHES

Darts Alberta Coaches must have successfully completed the NDFC Level 1 Coaching course (online) and a minimum of the NCCP Make Ethical Decisions module. It is important to note that if there are a sufficient number of candidates, those without the necessary qualificiations will not be considered.

Every applicant must complete the Darts Alberta Volunteer Application and submit this to the Darts Alberta Administrator. The deadline is December 31st, 2025.

Each successful applicant must comply with the screening criteria as outlined in Darts Alberta Policy 022.

See Policy 031 for details regarding the Team Coach Selection Processes.

Each applicant must be available, preferably in person, for the interview process that will be held mid to late January. Further details will be provided if selected for an interview.

Note that when completing the application for coaches, the options are listed under “Appointed Positions”. If interested in both Youth and Adult Coach Positions, please click on your preferred choice in the drop down menu and make a note of your second choice in the Comments Section.

Should a coach have any questions regarding training, certification or the selection process, please contact administrator@dartsalberta.com for more details.

Avoid Some of the Line-ups at the Klondike Open

The 2025 Klondike Open will be a busy time and here are some tips to avoid some of the line-ups:

1. Darts Alberta/NDFC Membership - All individuals wishing to purchase their NDFC membership at the 2025 Klondike Open will need to complete a membership form, even if you are only renewing. Consider purchasing your membership in advance by etransfering your membership fees ($60 for non-members / $30 for member league members) to payments@dartsalberta.com, print off, complete and sign your membership application and either scan and email it back to membership@dartsalberta.com or hand it in at the Klondike and pick up your card.

2. DartConnect check-in - with this being the first year using DartConnect for all youth and adult events, avoid the DC check-in line-up by checking into the tournament at 67th Annual Klondike Open - 2025 - TV DartConnect

3. Even though you may already be checked into the tournament on DartConnect, you will still need to register and pay for each event you (and your partner) will be participating in. If you haven't already checked in you will need to go to the check-in line up first before the registration desk will accept your tournament entry.

NDFC Membership Card Distribution

With the current postal strike, our Membership Director Angela Hovey will be holding off sending out any NDFC membership cards. She will have all cards available at the Klondike Open. Other distribution methods will be looked into after the Klondike Open.

Team Alberta Commitment Fee Increase

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR POTENTIAL TEAM ALBERTA YOUTH AND ADULT MEMBERS:

It is important that all Darts Alberta members are aware that the proceeds from the AGLC casino helps pay a large portion of the costs to send the youth and adult teams. The cost to send the youth and adult teams are ever increasing, but the proceeds have stayed relatively the same over the past 16 years. Participation from those benefitting from these AGLC proceeds is ever decreasing and that creates a risk of Darts Alberta losing our casino privileges. Team member volunteers, or someone working on their behalf, was at an all time low at the 2025 Casino.

In an attempt to mitigate this risk, the Board of Directors has approved a Team Alberta Committee Fee increase, effective immediately:

YOUTH MEMBERS: $400.00 commitment fee upfront and $200.00 refunded once a representative (player, parent, etc.) works on their behalf at the next casino. We tried to reduce the youth team costs by reducing the number of rooms required and unfortunately that met with opposition. We have always tried to keep the youth costs as low as possible, but since the youth and adult per person expenses are relatively the same, the Board felt the need to increase the youth commitment fee to the same as what the adults have paid in the past.

ADULT MEMBERS: $600.00 commitment fee upfront and $400.00 refunded once you or a representative works the next casino on your behalf. If you or someone else works on your behalf, this will work out to the same thing you paid previously.

CASINO VOLUNTEERS: If a team member is not available to volunteer, it will be up to that team members to find someone to work on their behalf and to notify the Casino Coordinator (DA First Vice) in advance of the casino. If a team member has made the team in both years, they will receive the refund for both years by working only one shift. However, if two members from the same family both make the team, one shift is required per team member. Casino volunteers that reside more than 100 km away from the casino receive mileage and shared accommodations.

On behalf of the Darts Alberta President, Cory Bowen
